Those posts are my favorite to read, keep sharing them. I have a hard time letting pieces go, I will listen to this podcast episode. I loved the blue shirt on you!

That means a lot, Jaqueline — thank you so much! It was such a good episode and really worth a listen, especially if you’re going through a transitional phase in your life and/or wardrobe.

The Soeur flats look exactly like the Everlane Day Glove - have you tried those??

Ariane's avatar

They were next on my list, but I ended up finding the right pair for me before trying them.

I’m still curious though — do you own them? I’ve read mixed reviews about the quality and comfort, so I wasn’t sure it was worth ordering, especially since I’m not in the US.

Came here to say have you seen/tried these from H&M? (https://www2.hm.com/sv_se/productpage.1274501007.html) I got them last fall and instantly loved them, they're super comfortable even on my higher arch. Might be a good alternative?

Ariane's avatar

Thank you for the recommendation! It looks like they’re not available anymore (at least in my country), but luckily I managed to find a pair that I love :)

Ooh yay, can’t wait to see them on you!

I've been eyeing that blue shirt as well 😂 Might see if they have it in store, so I can try it on. Not sure if the colour will suit me, but love how it looks on you.

It's a shame about the flats, but as they weren't right, it's a good thing you returned them - just so annoying when the return process isn't smooth.

I can relate to what you write about wearing the clothes you have - even when you don't like them. Something to think about!

Ariane's avatar

Remember when I said I absolutely didn’t need another oversized shirt in your post? Hahaha oops, seems like I did it again! But it’s really good, I hope you’ll like it as much as I do.

And yes, I’m glad I followed my instinct and returned both. I’m feeling much better now that they’re gone, which proves they weren’t the right ones for me.

Definitely something to think about — it makes me really excited to do a spring clean-out of my warmer weather clothes!

Sigrid Djernæs's avatar

I did actually think about that you said that 😂 Hope you'll get loads of wear out of it.

Ariane's avatar

Yes, let’s hope so 😅 I promised myself I would only keep the best ones, so we’ll see which ones make the cut 😝

Totally with you on the Sezane knit - I find their cardigans to be really boxy unless you have a long torso (which I do not!). Also that wool is very itchy! x

Ariane's avatar

I have a long torso and it doesn’t work for me either — I have to size up just to get enough length, but then it’s super boxy. So I’m really not sure who their customer is 😆 Thanks for reading, Anna x

I love these posts! Your intentionality is contagious!

Ariane's avatar

Thank you so much Kendall, means a lot!

Great reflections as always! I also tend to wear things I buy and don’t like. Sometimes I’m just stubbornly trying to make them work, which is silly cos I should be enjoying the things I really love instead 🙄

Ariane's avatar

Yes exactly, same for me! I sometimes wonder what the reasoning behind it even is lol — it really makes no sense when you think about it.

Kate W's avatar

Great post! This is exactly what I'm trying to do - be more discerning with my purchases, getting rid of things I still wear but aren't 'quite right', and 'why do I keep reaching for things that don't make me feel good' really resonated so thanks for writing 🥰😎

Ariane's avatar

Ahh thank you, Kate — it means a lot! I’m really curious why we keep doing this to ourselves, but I think simply acknowledging it is a first step in the right direction. Letting go of those pieces and removing the option altogether also seems like a helpful form of self-protection 😅

I love reading your thought process. I am so glad we kept the Cos shirt. I know the overalls didn’t work out but they were so dang cute! There is definitely something to be said about trying something secondhand that feels like a wardrobe risk!

Ariane's avatar

Thank you, Traci — I’m glad you approve of the shirt! And yes I know, RIP to the overalls. At least they had their moment to shine during my pottery classes lol.

Traci Landy's avatar

SO pottery class coded!!!! May they rest in peace. 🤣🤣

This blue COS shirt is amazing!!

Ariane's avatar

YES! I knew you’d approve haha! ;)

Ardas Chandra's avatar

What size did you get?

Ariane's avatar

It’s my usual size (10)

Well done with the restraint this month! Gotta go for perfect or nothing, but sometimes it's so hard! I've been eyeing these ballet flats for a while, might fit the bill for you too (or they might not with the high arch): https://www.dunelondon.com/rw/highcut-ballet-flats-black-0075510780022484.html

Ariane's avatar

Thank you — it was hard, but I’m proud I resisted! Ohh, these look good. I actually just booked a trip to London in May (literally five minutes ago, lol), so I might have to go see them in person!

Maureen McLennon Welton's avatar

These are ruched, but a few sizes still available in black. I recently bought the ivory and haven't worn them out of the house yet (rain) but so far think they're really great! https://go.shopmy.us/p-44835873

Ariane's avatar

Thanks, Maureen! They look great — I’ll see if I can go try them on in store 🙂

They’re not exactly the same, but Martiniano’s “glove” flats have that higher vamp and I find them incredibly comfortable with no break-in period.

That COS shirt really is the perfect shade of blue!

It sounds like you’ve had a good experience selling on Poshmark! I have a pile of clothes I want to sell but wasn’t sure where to go, and have heard mixed reviews about Poshmark - but maybe I’ll give it a try!

Ariane's avatar

I’ll check out the Martiniano flats — thank you! And yes, looove that blue. Maybe it’s because I’m so tired of winter and snow, but it just looks so vibrant and happy.

I’ve been selling on Poshmark for a few years now, so I’m used to it and honestly don’t have anything bad to say. That said, we don’t have many options in Canada — we don’t even have B/S/T stores here in Quebec. Other than eBay (which feels like too big of a beast to learn), there’s Vestiaire Collective, but in my experience that works better for luxury brands. So yeah, Poshmark is definitely the easiest — if not the only — option for me. Still a lot of work, but at least they’ve simplified the listing process a bit lately.
