Your thoughts resonate with me a lot. I am also trying for many years to buy better and fewer things. At the beginning at this year I set uo a goal for one item/ month and in March I already give us as I feld guild and make me feel bad. 🤗
Thanks for sharing, Claudia! I’m happy to see I’m not alone. I guess it must really depend on the person and how we respond to having rules or goals around shopping. Having a specific number in mind must be helpful for some people (but apparently not for us, ha!).
Ever since giving up on a specific number, how have you been doing this year?
Second, there are so much pressure about what we should and shouldn't do when it comes to shopping. You already are very considered in what you buy. If telling yourself that you don't want to shop actually makes you think more about shopping, it seems like this is a better way.
Even though I'm doing a lowbuy I still try not to focus too much on the numbers as that can feel very restricting - and almost have the opposite effect. I start thinking about all the gaps in my wardrobe and everything I'd like to add - and that just become overwhelming. Clothing should be fun and something we can enjoy without guilt (as long as it's not overconsumption).
There are months where I shop (and return) more than I would like and I can feel myself getting caught up in the cycle. And other months where it's slower and more considered.
Thank you, the kimono was such a good find (thanks to Amelia!).
And yes, you’re right. I think I need to trust myself more since I know what works best for me. I totally get the appeal of a low or no-buy because I’m sure that, for some people, having a specific goal in mind makes it easier to achieve. But for me, it proved once again that the opposite works best.
And I feel like it’s totally normal and healthy to go through different cycles where we shop more or less. Just another instance where it’s probably best to go with what feels right. I just really need to stop feeling guilty about it!
I couldn’t do a fixed number per month but having one (or at least the goal of one) forces me to ask myself if this is truly something I want or just a passing desire. Also as I didn’t include second hand it encourages me to shop more that way 😂
Finding a top (like that gorgeous kimono one) that you love so much, really does make it easier to figure out whether you should keep other purchases!! I think you nailed it on both your keep and returns list.
The kimono top looks so good and it sounds like absolute fate that you found it! 💗
Thanks to you for the amazing find!! I always love seeing what you share x

Yeah, I get it! And I don’t have any limits for secondhand either, so hopefully I can focus more on that too haha.

Yes totally! Thank you, Sophie!!
I go through phases with shopping. Sometimes I really have the urge and sometimes not interested ag all!
Yeah, I feel like it’s just normal. I don’t know why I feel so much guilt when I’m into it though. Do you feel like this too?
Noooo! It brings me too much joy to feel guilty! Life’s too short ❤️
Ahh, I looove that! I’ll try to give myself the same permission to let it just be something nice and fun!
Do it!!
