June Wardrobe Report
What I bought, returned, and tried on this month
Welcome back to my monthly wardrobe recap!
This one will be short and sweet because I honestly haven’t been in much of a shopping mood this month (which is great, actually), so I don’t have a whole lot to report.
Let’s get into it!
What I Bought This Month
Believe it or not, I only shopped in person once this month, and it wasn’t even planned. I arrived half an hour early to an appointment downtown Montreal (the parking gods were with me that day), which happened to be across the street from COS. So... what was I supposed to do? Ha!
I spotted this bag on my way out and immediately liked the shape. It’s a bit different from the usual straw totes we see all the time. I tried it on, and it was incredibly comfortable on the shoulder thanks to the wider strap. I also tried their popular raffia bag that I’ve been seeing everywhere on Substack, but I personally found it too big for me.
I still left it behind and told myself I’d wait a few days to make sure I really wanted it. I was rewarded for my good behavior (lol) because when I went online to order it, it was on sale, and I had a coupon to use on top of that, which made the price much more attractive.
Do I think a bag made of paper is worth $150—or even the $88 I paid? I’m still not sure. I’ll admit I’m a little worried about how it will hold up over time, but I’ve already been wearing it nonstop and really hope it lasts.
What I Returned
Last month, I mentioned that I hoped COS would release the white dress I tried on and loved in London in another color (white just wasn’t right for me), and they did—in a beautiful dark brown. So I ordered it at the same time as the bag.
I absolutely loved how it looked on (and I still do, looking at this photo!). It was exactly what I was looking for in terms of shape and structure. However, the moment I put it on, I just knew I wouldn’t reach for it.
The reality is that I already only wear dresses a handful of times each summer, and when I do, it’s usually because it’s so hot outside that I don’t want anything touching my body. While the loose silhouette keeps it from feeling restrictive, there’s still quite a bit of fabric, and I realized that although this more substantial cotton poplin is great for creating structure, it just isn’t my favorite material for a maxi dress.
The dress itself is great—it just isn’t right for me. I’ll wait for a similar version in a softer t-shirt fabric instead.
What I Tried On
Since I had time to kill before my appointment, I tried on a few things that caught my eye without any intention of buying anything.
I always find it useful to see clothes on real people, so I thought I’d share these in case you’ve been eyeing any of them. For reference, I’m usually a size M or US 8/10.
That’s it for this month! Overall, I’m feeling really content with where my wardrobe is at right now. Less shopping, more wearing, and more time spent outside enjoying other things.
