What I Wore This Week #2
Mostly trying to survive the heatwave and the unexpected hero of the week: my new bag
Welcome back to my weekly style diary, where I share the outfits I wore, what I was up to, and whether I actually liked them.
Thank you for the likes and comments on last week’s post—it truly means a lot and keeps me motivated to keep going.
Let’s dive in!
Sunday
It was a hot, beautiful Sunday, and I didn’t even bother getting properly dressed in the morning. We woke up, put on our bathing suits, and headed over to visit my brother, who moved just a few blocks away at the start of summer. We don’t have a pool, but he does—and he’s the best uncle—so we’ve spent a lot of time at his place these past few months.
When we got back home for lunch, I slipped into this simple outfit that’s served me well this season. Nothing fancy, just great basics. Black + white + a pop of red has been my color combo of the season (if you didn’t know already).
Monday
I wanted to start the week on a good note, so I put together an outfit around a piece I never wear: this skirt. To balance its feminine vibe, I paired it with suede loafers and a brown tank. It still felt a bit plain, so I tied a linen shirt around my waist and added a yellow beaded necklace. I love brown and yellow together, though I would’ve preferred a softer butter yellow.
It was a WFH day, but I decided to work from my local coffee shop terrace instead (why don’t I do this more often? It was so nice!) The only problem? It was insanely hot. My feet were sweating in the loafers, and even the linen shirt felt like too much. Looking at the photo now, I think the outfit worked—but on that boiling day, I didn’t exactly feel great in it.

Tuesday
Another (too) hot day, but I’d learned my lesson from the day before, so I reached for my favorite breezy cotton dress. Since it’s so simple, I added my snakeskin flats for some interest and finished with a black necklace + bag to tie it all together. I really liked this one, just an overall great heatwave outfit.
Wednesday
I didn’t leave the house on Wednesday (except for daycare pick-up), but I’d received this bag the day before—it simultaneously came back in stock and went on sale, which was a fun surprise—so I wanted to use it right away. I’d been looking for a bag that felt summery in both texture and color (are you surprised by the color? Ah!), and I’m happy to report that it perfectly checks those boxes.
I wanted to let the bag shine, so I wore it with a white shirt, dark denim shorts, and brown squared-toe flats for a bit of polish. No notes—I absolutely loved this outfit!
Thursday
I was in a bit of a style rut on Thursday morning, but luckily reading Substack over breakfast gave me some inspo.
came out with a brilliant post suggesting a few easy outfit tweaks, including tying a silky scarf around your waist. I’d tried it a few times before, but never had the courage to wear it outside the house (if you’re new here, I’m from a small town, a bit rural, so people don’t exactly dress trendy around here). I tried it with a monochrome base like she recommended, which was a great strategy.I had to run some errands, and I won’t lie, it felt a bit costume-y when I first walked out the door. But eventually, I forgot about it and felt perfectly fine—maybe even stylish? I’m not sure yet if it’s exactly me, but I’m glad I tried something new.
Friday
It finally felt a bit chilly on Friday morning, which gave me the perfect occasion to wear my new COS cardigan. This outfit was inspired by a photo of Lu Hough that’s been living rent-free in my head ever since I saw it. I looooved it and can’t wait to try another version with actual jeans. Aren’t transitional weather outfits the best?
And seriously, can someone please explain how she makes a casual look that chic?

Saturday
We had my parents over on Saturday. It was another sunny day so we spent most of it outside and eventually made our way to my brother’s backyard, again. I wanted something comfy and easy, so I went with my usual shorts + t-shirt. I managed to keep the denim jacket on until about 9 AM, then it was already too hot. Without the jacket and the bag (which I honestly didn’t wear for most of the day), the outfit ended up feeling pretty boring.
I think I need to put more effort into my weekend outfits—they often end up being my least favorite of the week. Most of the time, I get dressed in a rush because the kids are around, trying to ‘help’ by pulling things out of my closet. I don’t love planning outfits in advance (I prefer choosing based on my mood), but maybe having a few go-to options ready would make those days easier. Something to think about…
That’s it for this week!
I’d love to know—which outfit was your favorite? Tell me in the comments!
Also, would you like me to add links for the pieces I wore (when available)? Not sure if it’d be useful, but I can if you’d like.

These are beautiful outfits and I wish I had more reasons to carry a bag because your red one is amazing. And good for you for stepping out of your comfort zone in your hometown! It’s not easy but worth it if you want to wear what you want to wear.
Ariane, I LOVE all these outfits! I’m so glad you tried out the scarf - the all-black outfit looks so chic! It definitely takes a bit of getting used to but I’m with you on experimenting and trying something new. x
